Congratulations to our White Space Challenge Winners!
Recently we delivered keynotes to several corporate audiences. During our presentation titled, “Personal Sustainability: Learning To Go All Out Without Burning Out” we offered our participants several tools to help make their work and lives more sustainable…and of course, easier. One of the tools we invited participants to use was White Space Time – a chunk of time on your calendar where you don’t have a pre-set agenda.
After our keynotes, we invited all of our participants to join the 3-week White Space Challenge. All they needed to do was take three White Space Time sessions and let us know how it went. We randomly drew winners and these ladies received a $100 gift certificate to a venue of their choice. I know it’s surprising, but they all wanted time at the spa! Take a look at what they had to say about their White Space experience.

Tina Harcrow – Business Administrator in the Software Industry
"My first white space was scheduled for Thursday at 2pm. However, my workload was light, and I had spent most of the day doing routine time-filling tasks anyway, so I decided to cancel my white space. Funny thing happened, though. Because I had been thinking all day about what I would do with my white space, 3pm rolled around and I started daydreaming and I realized I really wanted to do something fun. So I started researching interesting online classes for the next hour. Ahh…..THIS was my white space.
My second white space was scheduled the day I had chosen to work from home to allow some home repairs to be done (you know…the service people who give you a 4-hour window of when they might show up?) Unfortunately, a lot of my job duties require me to be in my office, work-from-home days are a little challenging, so I scheduled myself time to read a new organizational book I had bought. I thought that would be my white space. But, honestly, during my lunch break, I started researching places to go away with my girlfriends for my 40th birthday. So, in retrospect, that was really my white space that day.
I’m finding that for a person who plans almost every minute of every day, it’s a little challenging for me to have an hour when nothing is pre-planned.
But I’ve realized this has given my super-logical brain a break. And we all need a little break, right? Thanks for the gift of white space!"
And one more comment from a White Space Challenge Participant…

H. Pelley - Procurement Program Manager, Software Industry
"After attending your seminar, I have taken the entire evening each night after my son has gone to bed as “white space.” Following your direction, I check in with myself and determine what I need to feel better in that moment. Some times it’s getting work done, sometimes it’s reading a magazine and sometimes it’s just sitting there reflecting. It’s been very powerful in reducing my stress, making me feel better about life and feeling like I am taking back control of my life. The time feels like a big body sigh of relief. This has been so effective in my personal life that as of today I decided to dedicate 30 min of “working white space” time during each work day. Where I allow myself to do personal or work stuff during my “personal white space time”, my “work white space” will be dedicated to determining what I need to feel better about work in that moment. I already feel energized and excited. I know this will be just as powerful. And imagine,
2 white spaces (and 2 big body sighs) each day! What a treat! Your white space idea was the most powerful takeaway I’ve had from any training I have ever attended (I’ve had more than 1000 professional hours of training in my career). It is a life game changer. THANK YOU!"
Learn to Take White Space Time For Yourself
If you haven’t learned about White Space Time yet, you need to! Keep reading to learn how you can get three hours of complimentary recordings to learn about White Space and how it can help you create ease right away!
Do you long to be more productive? To feel more on top of everything in your life? To stop feeling “behind”?
Or maybe your yearnings lean toward more satisfaction, feeling more creative, feeling more peaceful.
Either way, we’ve learned that there’s one thing you must do to be both more productive and more peaceful: Carve out some time. Yeah, yeah, yeah, we know. You’ve likely been trying to do it for years, and so have we. But we have figured something out about how to do this, and we can’t wait to share it with you.
In this 3-week complimentary teleclass, we’ll teach you to create a very special appointment we call White Space. It’s different that what you’ve tried before. And to be honest, it’s really pretty magical.
So here’s the thing: We’re not just ordering you to clear space in your calendar. Because for most people (including us), that’s really hard. Instead, we’re inviting you to spend a little time with us, so we can teach you:
- What White Space is and more importantly, what it’s NOT
- How to get some White Space, how not to, and how to explain your “appointment” to others
- The cool things that happen for people once they begin consistently taking White Space
- The wacky things that happen right at the beginning (so you will know you’re perfectly normal when you go through them)
- Why it’s so hard to set aside time, and how you can overcome your own objections to it (because we know you’re craving it soooo bad!)
We coined the term White Space last year to describe the wide-open feeling we wanted. We’ve been practicing it separately and together in our business partnership, and we’ve coached dozens of clients to build it into their lives. It’s helped our clients (who are busier than most people we know) to:
- “Step back” from their work and think about the big picture vs. just fire-fighting
- Create a more peaceful environment at home or at work
- Receive help from other people and step away from work that’s not theirs to do
- Tap into what they really want
- Reconnect to their creativity and ability to innovate to solve even the toughest business or personal problems
- Get more done, even though it looks like this time is “unproductive”
By the end of this class:
- you’ll have a clear vision for what’s possible for you if you give yourself White Space
- you’ll have experimented with scheduling it and blocking out distractions
- you’ll likely have run into some roadblocks and gotten support to overcome them
- you’ll be on your way to having more of what you want
- and of course…it will all be so much easier!
Don’t worry, there aren’t any strings with this offer. We’ll put you on our mailing list and promise not to sell or give your information to anyone else. And we also promise not to send you too many messages…personally, we hate that and wouldn’t think about being one of “those” businesses!
See you there!
Best,
Michele and Sara
