Can you afford to lose your company's best women?
Highly capable, motivated women are leaving companies in droves to start their own businesses or to be stay-at-home moms. Why is that?
What we teach companies, and in particular the women we help them retain, is that women need to work in a way that works for them. If a woman’s way of working is depleting to her, it doesn’t matter how productive she is or how handsomely she’s rewarded for her work. She simply won’t be able to sustain it without burnout or fallout.
Burnout is the experience of feeling fried, of losing one’s capacity for focus, drive, or resilience. And fallout is a word to describe what happens to other people when we start to burn out. At some high-tech companies, they call it “leaving dead bodies.” And that’s how it feels to those around a woman leader who’s working in a way that depletes her: like she’s just dropped a bomb on you.
We teach great women how they are neglecting some of the skills that are crucial to sustainable success. We teach them how to recharge their batteries without taking a sabbatical; how to soften their approach without losing their edge; and how to allow things to be much easier without sacrificing any results.
Our flagship program for companies who want to keep and grow great women is called Working with Power: How Women Can Thrive in Intense Environments. This one-day event is delivered to groups of 20-50 women (and more and more often, to groups of men, by popular demand…of course the skills aren’t dependent on gender!) from a single company.
