Working with Power 1-Day Event:
How Women Can Thrive in an Intense Environment
Your company needs to keep its best people.
You’re a leader in your industry and you know that without good people, you would lose your competitive edge. You also know your company culture is intense…it takes some guts to stick it out and meet the high standards that are demanded. If you’re like other successful but intense companies, you’re likely losing women faster than you like.
You’re doing so many things right.
Since you’re a talent-centric company, you’re likely offering some of the best-known retention strategies out there: good benefits, providing resources for women, offering advancement opportunities, creating woman-friendly and family-friendly policies, and building in training programs specifically aimed at developing women.
But women are still struggling and leaving.
Part of the challenge in retaining women in your company, however, is that the women themselves have adopted a way of working that leaves them uninspired at best, at times difficult to work with, and at worst, burnt out.
Here’s the deal: when women work in intense or male-dominated companies, they tend to adopt a way of working that mimics male approaches, but with many unique twists we call Distortions of Power. These distortions are what wear women and the people around them out.
The real reason you’re losing good women is because
they don’t know how to work in a way that is sustainable for them.
What women need in addition to the benefits, policies, resources, and opportunities they’re already offered are the personal skills to work in a new way that they can sustain. By eliminating their Distortions of Power in the four key areas described below, they discover that they CAN stay in their jobs, on their career paths, within your intense culture…and thrive.
Who This Day Is For:
- An up-and-coming future leader whose life and workload will only get more demanding
- A great performer whose stress sometimes affects those around her
- Managers, Directors, and Executives who have “mastered” your intense environment but who worry that the way they’re working isn’t sustainable
- Any woman you don’t want to lose
- As you read on, you may discover it’s for YOU!
But it’s not for:
- Low performers
- “Problem children”
- Anyone on their last chance
Participants in this day have said, “This is so valuable for me personally… I almost can’t believe my company is making such a great investment in me.” Your women will feel invested in, cared about, and inspired. And they’ll leave with new tools for working in ways that are sustainable, so they can stay and thrive.
The Training Objectives
The 1-Day Working with Power program is a training that guides professional women to assess their work style to learn what works and what doesn’t in each of four key areas:
- Hitting and Exceeding Targets
- Handling Pressure and Stress
- Working with Difficult People (without becoming one)
- Leveraging Life Outside of Work
These four areas surface a critical mass of the most consistent challenges professional women face. They also address the main stress areas that lead women to change jobs, change industries, or leave work, even when the company does all the right things to keep them. These objectives are designed to help women walk away from the session with the tools to immediately shift the way they work.
Each participant will leave the 1-Day training able to:
- Understand the 12 Elements of Power she uses (or misuses) every day
- Immediately apply innovative solutions for handling stress and pressure
- Identify three ways to get more done with half the stress (and without spending more hours in the office)
- Go for even bigger goals without it costing her or her team
- Identify her number one communication mistake that may turn reasonable people into “difficult people”
- Get what she wants, almost ALL the time, without being called nasty names
- Use two key skills that allow her to work with anyone, anytime
- Find ways to “Refuel mid-flight”: to refresh herself and get back into a productive frame of mind in just a few minutes
- Articulate where she uses her personal power effectively and where it gets distorted
BRING THIS EVENT IN-HOUSE
OR SEND YOUR BEST WOMEN TO SAMPLE IT
Companies large and small are seeing phenomenal return on their investment in this program. If you have 25 or more participants, a private session of the Working with Power 1-Day Event would allow us to customize the language to your company and bring your women together in an unprecedented way. But if your company or department is smaller or you’d like just a few people to sample the program before you roll it out on a larger scale, our semi-public events are for you. We welcome small groups (or even just one woman) from a number of companies to experience the event at the beautiful Harbor Club Bellevue.
